The inspiration for the Lemur came in early 2002 during the sound editing and mixing of the movie Ether by Viswanadhan (go to project). Originally scheduled to work in the large mixing room at the Centre Georges Pompidou, I was unexpectedly relocated to a small room equipped with just a computer, a keyboard, and a mouse. The experience of editing and mixing with such basic interfaces was frustratingly inefficient, highlighting the limitations of traditional input devices. It was during this project that I imagined how much more intuitive and effective it would be to interact directly with the computer screen—moving faders and adjusting plugin parameters with my fingers. Sharing my ideas with my friends Guillaume Largillier et Julien Olivier, our discussions sparked the vision that eventually became the Lemur, transforming the way creators interact with technology.
